I recently found out from a trustworthy source who I cannot name that ND freshman QB Jimmy Clausen recently underwent elbow surgery. Supposedly he will miss the entire season. Whether that means the recovery period covers the length of the season or ND will choose to redshirt him is unclear. With Clausen out the two leading candidates for the job would be Demetrius Jones and Evan Sharpley. I hope this is wrong.

If this is true, and I hope to God it isn't true, then you have to assume Jones will be the starter. Sharpley would be a waste of a year in my opinion. Also, this will set up an unbelievable quarterback race next year between Jones, Clausen, and Crist, the number four ranked quarterback in next year's class.
Crist would have no chance whatsoever, just imagine if Clausen weren't in the picture, it'd be Crist against Jones, who himself, was a top 5 Qb, and the #1 dual-threat QB in America coming out of high school. Crist would have no clue of the offense either. But Clausen/Jones part 2 would be crazy. Assuming this won't be a naggin injury and he beats out Jones next year, this will actually help Clausen's college career since he'll be playing with better teams.

Guys, this doctor is not his patient, and I'm almost positive he got this surgery in CA (why the hell would he get it in SB?), but he's got to see doctor's while he's in South Bend, and word travels fast...
I have on could faith he did have surgery.. He is NOT out for the year at all. That part is not true at all. Very minor surgery.

There's nothing more badass then anonymously calling someone out on a blog post. Why can't you guys accept that this might actually be true. We don't know for sure what happened but we heard something from a reliable source and posted it. We'll find out soon enough if any of this is true. I for one hope it isn't.
I saw this link on several ND sites.. You are getting bashed pretty good on irisheyes and others. With that said, you are defending what you have heard very well. In todays 24/7 news, the web, etc.. Someone would have confirmed this. Even with "bone spurs", which is minor surgery, he would be in a sling.. That would not have been kept quite. No way in hell, especially in USC territory! My two cents

Yes, I believe Dr. Ferlic is still affiliated with the university athletic med staff, but I think his specialization is in foot/leg injuries. Also, I did hear that much of the med staff is staying at work late tonight and "that only happens when something big is going on at this point in the off-season" to quote another source.
Jimmy Clausen will fail at ND, just like Ron Powlus. I hope the other guys keep him on the bench.

They said the rumor is not true and they have confirmed that Clausen will be out there on August 6th for the first day of practice.
Not true as in there was no surgery? Or not true as in he will be ready to practice this Fall? Hope he is okay, but it is not a big deal if he misses some time this season. The Irish are headed for a 4-6 loss campaign in any event.

ESPN has reported that Clausen did recieve a procedure on his elbow. However, the article said he will be ready for the start of fall practice. He is fine.
So what exactly did Marc Tyler report?? That all the injury rumors are 100% false?? That's what happens when you take everything from the ND athletic department as infallible, I love the team, but the men behind the scenes are liars. I have a feeling this is going to snowball, I still believe he's out for the season. All you haters should just pretend for a second that this is actually true .. what would the athletic department do?? Tell everyone he's done for the season? or release the information as slowly as possible. I'm pretty sure if they said Clausen was done about 25% of ND Nation would have a heart attack.
