BCS Bowl Projections

This is funny. OSU in the Title game again. The BCS loves Columbus. Oh, and by the way, all of the luck in Ohio sports funnels right to the capital. Shocking stuff, but I love it.

Anyway,

National Championship Game-- OSU vs LSU

Let the Les Miles dick sucking party begin. Oh and to everyone that hates OSU (sammich, I'm looking at you), who else should be there? I'm not saying they deserve it-- in fact, no one really deserves it. They should almost consider canceling the game.

Rose Bowl-- USC vs Illinois

USC is tied in with the Pac-10 Championship, and the Rose gets the first replacement pick since OSU is #1. I say they take Illinois for tradition's sake. They like that in Pasadena.

Sugar Bowl-- Georgia vs Hawaii

The Sugar gets the second replacement pick. I say they take Georgia. They also get the last pick and get beated with Colt Brennan.

Orange Bowl-- Virginia Tech vs Kansas

The Orange takes the ACC champion, and gets the first pick after replacements are made. Kansas is the pick here. If they took West Virginia, the Fiesta would end up with Big 12 vs Big 12. Not allowed

Fiesta Bowl-- Oklahoma vs West Virginia

Oklahoma is tied in with the Big 12 spot. West Virginia. Whatever.

How many of these will you watch? I'll watch the Rose and the NCG I guess. Maybe Fiesta? We've become too spoiled with great college teams to watch every year (USC with Leinart and Bush, Vince Young, those awesome Miami teams). Now we're upset because no one is dominating. Oh well. We'll check back after the results come out in ten minutes. Eh, probably not.

Rutgers is Gay

I wonder why Rutgers fans thought it would be necessary to rush the field. They just beat the most overrated team in college football history. I guess that's just Big East football at its finest. They need to get excited about one terrible team beating another terrible team. Remember that time Cincinnati was ranked? That was a good joke. Actually the rankings are just a joke. I wish the voters had testicles so they could put the best teams in the top ten instead of thinking "Oh well they haven't lost yet even though they play Turd U. every week."

If TOSU ever played a team ranked above 56 they might lose, but they have the 78th hardest schedule so I don't foresee this happening. This means I get to endure yet another year of "Like, OMG that one ohio team is playing in an important game, do you wanna like... act like we like them so guys think we are cool? I mean we are supposed to like them right? We are from Ohio it's only like what we are supposed to like.... do right? Let's buy matching jerseys! That would be so cute! And we can like wear them around and pretend we are fans and do that cool OH-IO chant. We can totally fit in. This is going to be the best night of my life." Andddd you don't even know what a first down is, god I hate ohio. As long as LSU plays Oklahoma in a bowl game then that will be fine and I will declare the winner of that the true champion.

Kansas is "undefeated" as well. I can name negative three players on the Jayhawks roster, but if I had to guess one I'd say Nick Collison.

Top 10
1) LSU
2) Oklahoma
3) TOSU
4) Kentucky
5) BC
6) Oregon
7) Socar
8) Florida
9) USC
10) Notre Dame

ND Ranked in Top-20 of Computer Poll

I’ve been in a blog coma lately, nothing excited me enough to make a post, until now. What could possibly be so earth shattering to motivate me out of my pleasant state of sloth? The BCS, obviously.

There is almost too much to complain about with the present system in the NCAA. How can the human polls unanimously rank Ohio State first while the computer polls rank Ohio State fifth? With such a huge disparity, how can they be equally respected? I’ve always sided with the computers, defending the PCs from naysayers that argued, “computers don’t have a brain … they can’t make rational decisions,” well, neither can Terry Bradshaw and he’s a part of the Harris Poll.

My love affair with the computer polls ended this week; however, when Jeff Sagarin made me look like a fool by ranking ND #18 in his latest poll. Sagarin’s rankings are 1/6 of the composite computer rankings which account for 1/3 of a team’s BCS rating. Here are Sagarin’s most recent rankings:

1) South Florida
2)
LSU
3) South Carolina
4) Kentucky
5) Boston College
6) Kansas
7) Ohio State
8) West Virginia
9) Arizona State
10) Virginia Tech
11) Auburn
12) Oklahoma
13) Tennessee
14) California
15) Missouri
16) Virginia
17) Georgia
18) North Dakota State
19) Oregon
20) Florida

Sorry Oregon, Florida, USC, Hawaii, Texas, and, uh, Notre Dame … you are no match for the North Dakota State Bison.

Despite the insanity of this ranking, I think Sagarin might get too much blame for this atrocity. Since the BCS has taken out the “margin of victory” component from its equation, the rankings Sagarin submits have become a disaster while his actual rankings are pretty normal (which includes margin of victory). Which begs the question, should the BCS keep Sagarins rankings in their formula? Or, is encouraging a team to run up the score worse than having North Dakota State ranked in a top-25? The answer to both questions is, obviously, no. The answer to this overall BCS problem is, obviously, a playoff.

That video made me want to shoot someone

Alright, nothing seems to be working. It's time for me to find a sure thing, these posts have really been getting me down lately. The only thing that can possibly get me out of this rut is ... reverse psychology.

The game? Boston College at Notre Dame. The play? Boston College -13.5 The reason? I can't lose.

I'm really taking this because I want ND to keep the game close since I'll be there, and there's no way I could actually post a correct pick. But beyond that, BC just looks like a good bet. Notre Dame beat UCLA last week 20-6; great win I was very happy, but, if you look at the numbers, the offense was as awful as it has been all year. Notre Dame had 140 total yards. UCLA had 282. ND had 12 first downs. UCLA had 20. Clausen was 17/24 for 84 yards. ND had 0 turnovers. UCLA had 7. And ND only won by 2 TDs.

I love Notre Dame's pass defense, especially Darrin Walls, and I think they will do a good job against an extremely overrated Boston College. I just don't think that the Notre Dame offense can possibly stick with BC, no matter how awesome the defense plays. Was that all convincing enough? BC IS A LOCK!!!

What Ever Happened to Discipline?

My memory may be faint, but I think that I recall back in the day that when an athlete committed a felony, action was taken. These days it seems like every time a kid does wrong, he gets off with a slap on the wrist and heightened popularity. Their ego grows, they think they are untouchable, and they grow into a poor example and role model as a professional athlete. Just look at the Vick brothers, Pacman, Randy Moss, Chris Henry, Corey Dillon, none of them were disciplined well in college (besides Marcus). I know I have written about this before, but it is time the coaches, and judicial system take control and crack down. There is no excuse to drop charges because they are an athlete. I believe, that if Vick is charged fairly with a very harsh sentence, that it could be the beginning of a new era. However, it still seems as if coaches will do anything to protect their irresponsible players, and do anything to win.

Earlier this week, fifth year senior, captain, and starting safety Tony Joiner, was arrested on the charges of felony burglary when he broke into an impound lot to steal his girlfriend's car. You would expect that Joiner would be doing some time for a felony charge, but no he will be back on the field this Saturday vs LSU. The worst part about the whole thing, Urban Meyer doesn't care. Meyer said that as long as the charge got dropped or reduced to a misdemeanor then Joiner could play. So according to Meyer, it is perfectly fine to receive a misdemeanor because that crime isn't that serious, right? Pathetic, sad, call it what you want, I'm disgusted. Joiner's punishment: he loses the title of captain. That is sad Urban.

Joiner complied with the police the night of his arrest. The witness saw him break in and then called the police. When Joiner tried leaving with his girlfriends car, the witness told him that police were on the way and he drove the car back into the lot, and waited for them to arrive. They arrested him and charged Joiner with a felony burglary. The owner of the impound lot (obviously a huge UF fan), dropped all charges because he said that he lost nothing and nothing was damaged.

It makes no sense. If you are a big time athlete at a big time college, why would you fuck up your career by doing something mentally retarded? Why can't you just take your four years, play your heart out, and make it to the NFL as a touted, respected human being? There is no point in breaking the law when you have everything lines up for you. Would Joiner have done this if Florida beat Brandon Cox? I don't think so. Maybe he was on tilt. Maybe that's his "excuse." But I just think he's a giant turd. Along with Meyer, the whole Florida team, FIU, FAU, every single thug college in Florida that can't figure out how to teach their kids some damn life lessons.

Alright, I apologize for my lack of productivity this week, I just got completely shit on with school work. Anyway, this is gonna be short and sweet. I've loved Arizona State all year, I think they're the most underrated team in the nation … think Purdue with a defense. This week they go to Washington State, in their second road game in a row.

Washington State is coming off two awful losses, 47-14@ USC (understandable) and 48-20 @ Arizona (understandable in women's basketball). Overall, they're 2-3, also getting crushed by Wisconsin, 42-21 in the first game of the year. Their only two wins have come against San Diego State and Idaho, teams that are a combined 2-7. Washington State also has a shit load of injuries. Arizona State is 4-1 ATS this year, and Washington State has been raped by every decent team they've faced. I should probably be wondering why this line isn't closer to two TDs, but I don't care. I love ASU this year, they'll win by 10+.

The Tortured Fan

Has anyone else ever noticed how a network will have a big game on and they focus on one fan throughout the entire game? I kind of realized this strange occurrence during the Florida-Auburn game. They showed the rise and downfall of one particular UF guy. It seems like there are certain stages...

1) I'm drunk and glad to be here
This is great, I have so much to look forward to. We are going to destroy Auburn. They start Brandon Cox, I mean wow why don't they just put Rick Clausen out there and try to win. After we win I'm going to rush the field and celebrate with Percy Harvin. We have History 223 together on Tuesdays and Thursdays and the other day he brushed my shoulder walking by. Dude then we can go party with all these smokin' Florida girls. I love being in the SEC, it's like hot babes just pop out of holes. Oh man, here comes the coin flip.

2) We scored, we have the lead at home, no stopping us
YES! Let's do some crowd push-ups... oh how i just love them. YEA YEA LIFT ME UP! AHH THIS IS FUN! SEVEN! Good job guys. Hey next week, let's take our shirts off and paint GATORS across our chests. Yes this means you too Gary. I don't care how fat you are, there always has to be the one fat guy who doesn't wear a shirt. Suck it up. Hey let's go get a beer, no no wait everyone's doing the gator chomp.

3) Shit, turnover
What was he thinking?! Your one job is to hold onto the ball. Its ok, our defense is amazing and I mean... Brandon Cox cmon. I think the Cox family has some dirt on Tommy Tuberville. The must have his one son held for ransom. Oh what the fuck Brandon Cox is playing alright.

4) The characteristic downfall
They have too much momentum. I don't know what to do. DON'T TELL ME IT'S GOING TO BE OK SHARON. WE ARE LOSING TO BRANDON COX. HE HAS NEVER WON A GAME BEFORE. JUST DON'T FUCKING TOUCH ME, OR LOOK AT ME. WE ARE THROUGH (Sharon sits down for the remainder).

5) Accepting defeat
Whatever, I mean there's always the Gator Bowl. This is terrible. Tim Tebow sucks. So what if he's a Heisman candidate and he's playing amazing, we have to think that right? I mean we did it with Chris Leak and then he won us a national title.

6) Glisten of hope
Yea there we GO! I take back everything I said about Tebow. He just makes plays, I love it. We have a chance Sharon. DON'T SAY ANYTHING SIT DOWN AND SHUT UP. We can win this i know it.

7) It's all even
TEBOW! TEBOW! ALL TIED UP! WE GOT THIS! The mo is on our side. No way Brandon Cox leads a game winning drive. He's such a joke. I love this shit. I just want to party with Percy!

8) Shit, I'm really nervous
I can't watch, I can't watch. I know Cox is terrible but what if? What if someone slips up? I can't do this. I just want to cry.

9) Wow, we are actually going to lose
Seriosuly? I am going to cry. Why couldn't we just have gotten blown out? I would rather be dead right now. I know this is going in. I am terrified.

10) We lost
I'm tearing up. I can't go party with Percy, I can't rush the field, all i want to do is die. Sharon, I'm sorry I didn't mean any of it (at least i can hope she accepts my apology and i can go get laid).

Yes I know the game didn't go this way. It's just an example.

That Was Fun

Cool Saturday, let's do that again. I love watching teams lose so TOSU can move up to number five even though they haven't played a top 100 team. First of all, my other preseason national title pick, Texas, is out of the mix. They decided to not show up against poop state. So anyways, #3, #5, #7, and #10 have lost. Thats tits. Plus when Jake Locker beats USC, that will be five of the top 10 falling in one week. That has to be some kind of record. There's always a chance Auburn could beat Florida, but I bet Tim Tebow does something "amazing" that will be talked about for another season. My guess: They snap the ball to Timmy and Percy Harvin runs forward and dumps a gallon of honey all over Tebad. Wideout Kesthan Moore was in motion and comes behind for the fake end around, but instead dumps a bag of bird seed all over the sticky Tebow. Meanwhile Tim pulls out his bird whistle and a flock of trained pigeons swoop down with their huge talons and pick up the quaterbad where he is gracefully flown into the end zone. Hey, I've seen crazier things... LIKE THAT JESUS CHRIST LOCKER!!!!!!! HIT HIM HE WAS WIDE OPEN YOU ARTARD! Fucking huskies.

Rutgers lost. HAHA fags. Tiquan Overratedbythisblog Underwood, cut him from that list. Rooting against Rutgers was not acceptable last year, but I believe things are different now. They were so overrated the whole year, I've said it all along, and now no one can disagree. FU.
Also, I wish I knew those Big East lovers who were commenting on here so I could ask them how their week was.

Minnesota just won an award for the ugliest uniforms ever. I hope I am not the only one seeing this. It looked like Chris Wells just trucked a bottle of mustard to get six.

My hatred of Michigan State grew today as well. Late in the game Wisconsin wide receiver Kyle Jefferson caught a ball across the middle and a Michigan State dback, whose name I refuse to mention (I also can't find out who it was), DESTROYED Jefferson. It was one of the biggest hits I've ever seen, however it was also helmet to helmet and it looked like Jefferson's neck snapped on impact. The kid did not move at all after the hit and Michigan State starts celebrating the big hit like the cocky bastards they are. Everyone loves big hits ok yea, but don't continue to celebrate after the guy lies there motionless.

Before this week, I thought there were six good teams this year. The top four, Kentucky TOUCHDOWN LOCKER! TOUCHDOWN HUSKIES YAYAYAYYA, and Notre Dame. After this week, there is LSU, Kentucky, and Notre Dame. Florida and USC are losing so I can't count them yet. All of this has left me with two thoughts...

1) I can't believe they are making a movie about Michael Clayton... he isn't even good.
2) I have to shit.

Weekend Sports Betting Preview

Alright, if this game is not a blowout, the Chargers are just not a good team. They’re coming back home off a loss to Green Bay, people are understandably down on them, and their coach. If they have any pride at all, they’ll kick the shit out of Kansas City.

Norv Turner is the worst head coach in the NFL, it’s unbelievable to me that he even got that job, but I worry less about this offense than I did about Chicago's against KC because, thankfully Rex Grossman isn’t involved in this game. If Norv wants to keep his job, scoring over 30 pts here would be a good start. If they can get to thirty, on LT’s back, the cover shouldn’t be a problem, since KC absolutely cannot score. The Chiefs are ranked in the bottom half of the league in rushing defense, so I expect Tomlinson to get back on track.

Well, that’s all I’ve got, this is pretty much just a situational play. I think the Chargers finally show up after facing three tough opponents to start the year, if they don’t, then they’re actually a bad team. I’m not ready to believe that, thus, I’m taking San Diego minus the points.

Abandon Ship!!!

The Notre Dame football team is completely imploding, today, 360 lb OL Chris Stewart just left school. That marks the third player to transfer this year, and the second in a week. On Tuesday, sophomore tight end Konrad Reuland announced he was transferring, most likely to UCLA. Reuland was the #2 ranked tight end coming out of high school, and would have most likely started next year.

Stewart was the only offensive lineman to not play against Michigan, literally, so that won't hurt too bad. None of these transfers will, tight end and quarterback (Demetrius Jones) are the deepest positions Notre Dame has, but this points to a larger problem with the team's morale. I don't blame ESPN and talk radio hosts for not looking at the big picture, they're borderline retarded, but why don't the players see it?

This year's seniors are from Willingham's last recruiting class, it was horrendous, and was basically the reason he was fired. You want to know why Weis isn't being fired? Because he has a top-3 recruiting class coming in next year. The juniors on this team are from the turnover year, from Willingham to Weis, Weis was busy winning a Super Bowl, and the coach search took forever ... so there is basically no one in that class either. This team you see now is basically made up of 5th year seniors, sophomores, and freshmen.

Next year, this team will be better, not great, but I'd say a top-25 team. They will have no significant seniors, but will have top-5 recruiting classes in their junior through freshmen classes. By the time Clausen is a junior, this team should be a national title contender with the recruits they have. It's disappointing that these guys are leaving this year, as the future is bright ... sure, when you come to ND you don't plan on having rebuilding years ever, but it will be worth it.

A Few Thoughts

  • Kevin Curtis, of the Philadelphia Eagles, stated on Sunday that he feels as if white receivers don't get enough of a chance. After his huge game, KC explained that he thinks white wide outs are exploited and that the media hates to see them make plays. Donovan McNabb wasn't available for comment, but his agent said that McNabb thought Curtis was black and he won't make the mistake again next week.
  • Mark Ecko is the clothes designer who purchased Barry Bonds' steroid record breaking home run ball for 3/4 of a million dollars. In case you haven't seen the website yet, Ecko has been taking national votes on what to do with the ball. The options include sending it to the baseball hall of fame as it is, sending it in after branding it with an asterisk, and launching it into space. Barry Bonds called Ecko "an idiot."Personally I would love to see it launched into space because that would be hilarious, but today the votes were tallied and it will be given to the hall of fame with an asterisk on it. I voted to let it go unblemished. Why? Because, after all was said and done, I was watching the chase as it got closer and was ready to see him hit the home run. Of course I hate him and want him to die, but Arod will destroy that record in the next decade and we will once again, have a legit home run king.
  • Milton Bradley really did tear his ACL arguing with an umpire. This is going to be on every single countdown that the best damn sports show has for the next century. Even the one's titled "Greatest Moments in Figure Skating." I remember when Milton played for the Indians and he had "I'm going to be a clubhouse cancer" embroidered on his jersey. Someone decided to get rid of him and ever since he has hit a home run against the Indians in every game he's played, but at least he's still a dumbass. In case you haven't seen it yet, please click accordingly. The umpire has been suspended for the rest of the season because Major League Baseball said he used profanity to taunt Bradley. Toys R'Us has decided to pull all Milton Bradley board games off its' shelves until the company changes its' name. (that's not even funny. i suck).
  • Antonio Henton, 3rd string quarterback for TOSU, has been arrested on charges of soliciting a prostitute. He was considered to be Troy Smith's apprentice, even though he was dumber, and couldn't throw a football. Still the typical TOSU fans believed him to be the next Heisman Trophy winner since they are irrational and dead to me. Henton offered money to a prostitute who posed as an undercover cop and was arrested hahaha. TOSU hass suspended Henton indefinitely and I believe he should be kicked out of school where he will enroll at Florida this coming fall. Florida encourages prostitution, gambline, and rape so Henton will be given a full ride. Have fun with Todd Boeckman.
  • My preseason pick of a Texas vs Louisville national title game is open for laughter. Louisville is out barring the top 25 teams don't all die, and Texas still looks a little shaky. Clearly I should have picked USC vs LSU, but what is the fun in that? That's like saying America is the best country in the World and everyone is just a bunch of pussies... it's already general knowledge, I like to be adventurous. Also I still stand by my statement that Rutgers is bad and is probably the worst top 10 team in the history of college football besides Miami and FSU when they were "good"). Actually every team in college football sucks. This is by far the least talented year ever. It is like an NFL season. Bad

Heisman Watch: Week 4

I had a tough day today, I apologize for kind of going through the motions. At class, my teacher mentioned how some revolutionary group "got in through the back door," I laughed out loud and things got awkward; the teacher wasn't amused. It ruined my day. Anyway, I'm beginning the pare down the list to the top 5 contenders, as players are beginning to separate themselves.

1) Tiquan Underwood, WR, Rutgers: 20 Rec, 500 yd, 3 TD

Bye weeks are for pussies, but that’s on the Rutgers AD, not Tiquan. We still love you Undies. We’ll get back to talking about his greatness next week when he tears the balls off Maryland.

2) Graham Harrell, QB, Texas Tech: 166/227, 1963 yards, 19 TD, 2 INT

Losses are for pussies, but that’s on Texas Tech’s defense. Harrell has still been absolutely unbelievable. Last week in their loss against Oklahoma State, Harrell went 46/67, 646 yards, 5 TDs, and 0 INTs. That’s an entire season of passing yards for Jameel Sewell. While tearing OK State apart his system QB rival, Colt Brennan, was busy ducking Charleston Southern’s vaunted ‘Icebox’ defense.

3) Darren McFadden, RB, Arkansas: 86 rushes, 519 yards, 4 TDs

I’m a little leery of McFadden, when he’s playing, he’s the best in college football, but he’s missed a lot of key time for his team. Against Troy he missed time for cramps, he missed the Razorbacks last drive against Alabama with the game in the balance with a 'concussion' (there were no symptoms 30 min afterwards), and he got a stomach virus versus Kentucky. What the hell is happening to him? I'm not gonna say he should be fighting through all of this shit, because I wouldn't ... I'm a pussy, but I think there are guys that could.

4) Tim Tebow, QB, Florida: 65/95, 1096 yards, 10 TD, 1 INT

I’ve always thought Tebow was kind of a douchebag; I didn’t really have a reason, maybe it was because of the never ending handjob he receieved for his gay jump pass last season, but this year has changed my opinion of him. He has torn everyone apart, despite supposedly struggling with his passing in the preseason. Luckily for Tebow, any inadequacies he does have are being covered up by Urban Meyer’s insane recruits, most of which he vultured from other programs, like ND … what a bitch.

5) Andre’ Woodson, QB, Kentucky: 86/134, 1008 yards, 11 TD, 0 INT

I wasn’t a believer in Woodson to start the season, but he has turned me around a bit. So long as teams refuse to play defense against him, I like his Heisman chances. We’ll see how he does against the traditional SEC powers, Arkansas and Louisville basically have I-AA defenses, so we can't get too excited yet.

And one for good luck …

6) Dorien Bryant, WR, Purdue: 32 rec, 368 yards, 3 TD; 6 rush, 59 yards; 14 returns, 402 yards, 1 TD

I had to include Bryant somehow, just so I can explain how bad he and the rest of the Boilermakers will rape Notre Dame’s ass next weekend. I’m actually worried that this massacre will carryover into my own ass, all ND fans should be vigilant in their anal protection on Saturday. Last year Curtis Painter threw for nearly 400 yards in a loss, and WR Selwyn Lymon had 238 yards receiving. Bryant is clearly Painter’s favorite target this year, so he should get the looks, and with Notre Dame’s godawful offense, Purdue will get even more chances to score. I could not dread watching a game more than I do this one.

Weekend Sports Betting Preview

Alright, the Weekend Betting Preview will now become a one day affair, two was just too many. Last week was a fucking joke, I won 2/3rds of my plays and I bet like 40 games (that's a little excessive), but somehow I went 1-4 on this fucking contest. Annoying. Time to turn it around, which is weird to say because I'm actually due to lose after last weekend ... but whatever. Here's my biggest play this weekend.

Toledo +3.5 v. Iowa State

There are a lot of reasons to bet on games, in any sport, and most of them are involved here. I really don’t have to go into each team’s offensive and defensive units, this isn’t a matchup thing at all. Here’s why I like this:

It’s a huge letdown game for Iowa State. They just beat their most bitter rival, Iowa at home. They are in no way better than Iowa, it was just a rivalry game, which can obviously go either way. That made their season. I might be worried if they were undefeated or something, with conference championship aspirations, but this team is 1-2, with losses coming to Northern Iowa and Kent State at home already this year. They won’t care about this game, they won their championship last weekend.

This is a sandwich game for Iowa State. They had their biggest game of the year last weekend and next weekend they will be traveling to Nebraska. It would be crazy to think this team was focused on Toledo, but, shockingly, they’re laying points. I know Toledo is bad, but so is Iowa State.

This is also a revenge game for Toledo as they lost a 3OT game at Iowa State to start the year last year. Toledo has also lost three straight games, all to high powered offenses, Purdue, Central Michigan, and Kansas; playing Iowa State will be a nice break from those type of offenses. I’ll end with a nice stat about Toledo’s home field advantage, Toledo is 20-2 in their first home game back off a two game road trip since 1986, haha … I absolutely hate trends, but that’s pretty impressive. One more, Toledo is 20-9 in their last 29 home games. They love going home.

Rejected ESPN Fan Videos

I didn’t think ESPN could do anything more annoying than Who’s Now, but I was very wrong. There is really nothing worse than leisurely watching ESPN and then BOOM! “GO South Florida!!! Auburn better watch out cause Matt Grothe’s coming to town!!! And when he does, he brings THE PAINNNN!!!” I’m sure everyone has had that experience with ESPN's new college football fan videos. The worst one of all is definitely that Texas A&M guy, he is such a douche, “Y’all better watch out for Aggies this year, they’ve got the best running game in the country, Stephen McGee, Mike Goodson, the list goes ON AND ON!” It makes you wonder, how bad are the videos that they don’t put on TV? Well, we’ve been given access to the rejects, and it’s frightening.

ESPN definitely doesn’t want videos of you saying how much your rival sucks, and they absolutely don’t need you ripping your shirt off:

Shockingly, ESPN does not want the videos of you puking on the way to your team’s game:

I don’t really understand why anyone would ever send this into ESPN, but I have a feeling it was a Michigan fan:

ESPN might not want the videos of you hitting your friend in the balls with a football, but we sure do. Please send all videos to our email in the upper left of your page:

This girl clearly doesn’t understand the purpose of these videos, but, I for one, would have thrown her a bone:

Lowsman Watch: Week 3

1) Harrison Beck, QB, NC State: 59/110, 641 yd, 2 TD, 6 INT

Harrison Beck has transformed himself; it’s really been spectacular to watch. He’s morphed from an interception throwing gunslinger, a la Brett Favre or Rex Grossman, into game managing Mark Brunell-type. Last week he threw for over 300 yards and 5 interceptions, this week, he threw for 113 yards, no TDs, and no INTs; that was good for 3.5 yards per attempt… BORING. Beyond being an awful quarterback, he’s gotta be a douche bag too right? What kind of name is Harrison? I know … it’s a last name. I’ve still gotta do some digging, but I’d be willing to bet that he’s the president of NC State’s athletic fraternity, from which, no nerd is safe. If you want to learn more about Harrison, check out his 'official website,' as opposed the the unofficial ones, this is the real deal.

2) Ben Olsen, QB, UCLA: 49/97, 702 yd, 5 TD, 4 INT

Ben, really nice work against Utah last weekend. The state of Utah has not been kind to Olsen as he has gone 33/68, 416yd, 0 TD, and 4 INTs in his last two games, against Utah and BYU. You would think Olsen would be used to the state’s Mormon voodoo elevation, as Olsen himself is a Mormon – and proud of it. Olsen did his mission to Canada from 2003-2005. For those who don’t know, Mormons make a pilgrimage to Canada once in their life to worship maple syrup. Quarterbacks who do their mission are normally awful, but Olsen isn’t worried because “It’s [the mission] important to me, plus I’m blessed with a lot of talent. I’m better than any other guy that’s gone on a mission.” Hmmm, at least he’s confident, but I think the Dolphin’s John Beck might have a legit gripe.

3) Lyle Moevao, QB, Oregon State: 24/43, 255 yd, 0 TD, 4 INT

Lyle is about to be supplanted as the Oregon State quarterback, losing out to Sean Canfield. At least I’d assume he will be, is there anything dumber than a quarterback by committee when the committee members are the exact same type of player? I understood the Chris Leak/Time Tebow thing, but this is ridiculous, especially when Moevao is so bad. Lyle will become the 5th member of our Lowsman Watch candidates to lose his job; a major hurdle in forming these lists, but something I’m very proud of.

4) Jameel Sewell, QB, Virginia: 31/54, 243 yd, 1 TD, 2 INT

I’m not sure why I didn’t keep Jameel on this list last week, he wasn’t good. So far this year, Jameel has yet to throw for over 100 yards … and he played Duke. UVA has a great defense, but he’s completely spoiling it. He isn’t doing it with his legs either, he is basically Vince Young with a torn ACL.

5) John Sullivan, C, ND: Fucking Awful

Sullivan is definitely not the worst player on this line, as he was the number one ranked center in the country going into the year and was on every lineman award watch list; but he’s the cornerstone of an offense that has rushed for -14 yards. Beyond that, Sullivan made sure that any glimmer of hope for Notre Dame fans was lost on the first offensive play of the game against Michigan when he snapped the ball over Jimmy Clausen’s head, nearly ending in a safety. The game was over right at that moment. Here are some more stats to get nauseous over, 20/39 offensive drives have ended in 3 and outs and 10 of those 39 have gone for negative yardage. It’s unbelievable, and hurts to watch. Against Michigan, nine different offensive linemen saw playing time, the only player that didn’t was 340-lb sophomore Chris Stewart. I can’t imagine how bad he must be.

6) Delbert Alvarado, K, South Florida: 2/6 FGs

South Florida had the week off last week, but get back at it this weekend versus North Carolina. Delbert is on this list, not only because of his FG %, but because of how bad his misses against Auburn were. Seriously, if the uprights were double their actual size, he still would have missed two of his FGs, and they were at key situations in the second half. There is no doubt that he is going to cost South Florida a game at some point, I’m going to guess it will be West Virginia.

7) Brandon Cox, QB Auburn: 37/75, 436 yd, 2 TD, 6 INT

More like Brandon “Sucks” Cox (oh yea, more to come), this guy is a senior, but is having his worst year ever. Cox is completely fucking the Tigers offense this year, sure, the offensive line is allowing penetration, but Cox needs to know better than to try and stick it into tight coverage; the Auburn offense needs to get back to pounding their opposition with the running game. In fact, Brandon may have lost his job to multi-purpose freshman Kodi Burns, by throwing two interceptions in the first 8 minutes against Michael Henig’s Mississippi State team. That might have spelled the end for Cox because, as we all know, once you go black, you never go back …. Cox has most likely become out 6th Lowsman candidate to lose their job.

8) Deon Palmer, SS, Louisville: MTSU = 42 pts UK = 40 pts

Senior Louisville safety Deon Palmer will continue to represent the Cardinal’s porous defense. They’ve given up over 40pts for the second week in a row. They may get a reprieve this weekend as they meet Syracuse, a team that actually has a worse defense. Deon should probably start taking the advice of his father, Horace Grant, but all signs point to Deon being a bastard child. By ‘all signs,’ I mean he doesn’t wear a helmet visor, I’m sure that would have been lesson #1 from the Horse.

9) Travis Thomas, RB, Notre Dame: 14 carries, 18 yards

Thomas is, thankfully, being fazed out of the ‘running game,’ but he definitely deserves mention before his disappearance. Anyone who has watched Notre Dame’s games knows his fetal possession running style. Literally, every time he gets it, he clutches it with both hands and falls down. I am the last person to blame the running backs or quarterbacks for their lack of offensive production, but Travis Thomas is awful. Others, especially Armando Allen, have shown explosiveness despite having absolutely no room to move.

10) Brian Smith, K, BYU: 0/1 FG, 2 missed PAT

If the Oregon State quarterback by committee situation seems dumb, BYU’s kicker by committee might have out done them. Brian Smith is the second option for the Cougars, but he has missed his lone FG attempt and missed two of six PATs. I can’t imagine how Coach Mendenhall could ever rationally decide to put Smith in, it’s gotta have something to do with reading golden tablets or getting visions in a hat … who the hell knows what these Mormon’s are up to. No matter who the kicker is though, these Cougars should feast on some young, sweaty men in uniform next week as BYU takes on Air Force.

Heisman Watch: Week 3

Just a reminder, in case you're really confused, this isn’t your normal Heisman Watch list. We don’t care what players did last year or what 'the man' says. This list is based solely on this year’s performance and my personal biases. Alright, let’s bully:

1) Tiquan Underwood, WR, Rutgers: 20 Rec, 500 yd, 3 TD

Tiquan is Log’s Blog’s poster man; he’s been top 3 in our list every week thus far. He has been as consistent as any player in the nation, and he depends on Mike “Awful Quarterback” Teel to pass him the ball. This week, Underwood had his third straight game of 100+ yards receiving and added another touchdown … all of which were gathered the 2nd quarter. This is all despite Greg Schiano’s continued efforts to chop (Under)wood, and his Heisman campaign; he clearly has sided with the Ray Rice. To go along with the TD, Tiquan got Rutgers into the red zone twice on deep passes … in each instance Rice vultured the TD. Would it kill Schiano to call a fade once and awhile? Undies is doing all of this without being the focal point of his team, we love him.

2) Colt Brennan, QB, Hawaii: 103/133, 1262 yd, 12, 1 INT, 4 rush TD

Colt has continued his magical season by dismantling UNLV in Vegas. This time he showed his versatility, that he can beat teams with his arm AND his legs. Brennan went 26/32, 298 yards, 2 TD and also added 3 rushing TDs. This was an especially important game for Colt as his brothers were finally able to see him play; they are normally unable to make the trip to Hawaii from California. Luckily, Rocky and Tum Tum were able to see one of the best all-around games of Colt’s college career.

3) Sam Bradford, QB, Oklahoma: 59/74, 823 yd, 11 TD, 1 INT

Had to drop Bradford a couple spots due to an INT at Utah State last week, but he had another solid game overall. We really appreciate that Bob Stoops has presented a respectable Heisman candidate from his team, the other serious national title contenders to this point, USC and LSU, have not. Pete Carroll has turned into the college version of Mike Shannahan, it’s actually creepy how much high school boys love him, top RBs are willing to split carries to play for him … it’s kind of gay. Uhh, getting off topic, Sam Bradford is good.

4) Dorien Bryant WR, Purdue: 20 Rec, 218 yd, 198 total yd/game

There are too many stats to write for Bryant, he’s the best all purpose player in the country … sorry DeSean. This is despite only being punted to 3 times even though Purdue has forced 22 punts; he’s kicked to 13% of the time. DeSean Jackson on the other hand has been kicked to on 6 of 18 punts, or 33%. That’s a very, very key stat. Bryant also has 279 yards on only 6 kickoff returns, a 46.5 yard average. He made the list in week 1 because of his kickoff return for a touchdown, but the last two weeks he has also dominated as a receiver. Last weekend, for instance, he had 95 yards receiving, 39 yards rushing, and a routine 58 yard kick return. Dorien hasn’t even gotten to the easiest part of his schedule, as Notre Dame doesn’t come to town for two weeks… watch out.

5) Graham Harrell, QB, Texas Tech: 120/160, 1317 yd, 14 TD, 2 INT

Another day, another 400 yard passing performance for Harrell. It is a travesty that ESPN is not talking about this guy yet. I might be a simple mind, but I don’t understand how anyone can be stroking John David Booty’s dick while Harrell is left unserviced. How much different would USC be with Harrell at QB? No different at all. For some reason, Heisman voters have decided to make the QB of the best team in the country a top three Heisman candidate, regardless of his importance to their team. We’re against that here.

6) Matt Ryan, QB, Boston College: 77/130, 985 yards, 7 TD, 3 INT

I was not a believer in Boston College before the season, but they’ve played arguably had the most difficult schedule in the nation to this point, and he has led the Eagles to a 3-0 start. I bet Tom O’Brien is beginning to regret his decision to leave Boston College for NC State, which he did because NC State “has a better chance to recruit BCS level talent.” It’s going to be tough to recruit Ryan-level QB’s to NC State when they realize that it’s only the third most desirable school in Raleigh-Durham. He better just hope to hit the jackpot on some overrated, sidearm-throwing QB… I’m a Philip Rivers hater.

7) Darren McFadden, RB, Arkansas: 57 carries, 346 yards, 3 TDs

McFadden has only played in two games thus far this year, and has been unbelievable in both. Last weekend, he put Arkansas on his back to take the lead after being down 21 pts at Alabama, but 21pt deficits are the least of McFadden’s Heisman problems. D-Fad has been one of the many excellent players to suffer through the SEC’s phallic QB surname epidemic of 2007. Casey Dick (Arkansas), Brandon Cox (Auburn), and Chad Penis (Ole Miss) have set back their kind 100 years and, in turn, their teammates.

8) Percy Harvin, WR, Florida: 10 Rec, 215 yd, 2 TD, 16 rush, 156 yd

Harvin finally had his breakout game at Florida, he caught 4 passes for 120 yards and rushed nine times for 75 yards against rival Tenessee. He’s also one of the hardest working players in the NCAA, and he better be if he wants the public to overlook his first name. Last year, Percy was overshadowed by his counterpart Dallas Baker, he was the Carlton to Baker’s Will Smith. He’s finally out of the Touchdown Maker’s shadow, but Percy has not stopped doing the impossible, he’s also made Tim Tebow look like an accurate passer.

9)Andre’ Woodson, QB, Kentucky: 65/95, 743 yards, 9 TD, 0 INT

I’ve got to give it to Andre’, he outplayed Brian Brohm. Brohm threw his first INT of the year in the first two minutes of their game, absolutely killing Louisville. If it’s actually possible to kill a team’s chances in the opening minutes, he did it. The INT immediately followed a fumbled kickoff which had been converted into a FG; Woodson’s offense converted the INT into a touchdown, thus ending Louisville’s chances of a cover win. It will be interesting to see how Woodson performs against actual defenses, if last year was any indication, he could be on this list for a long time.

10) John Parker Wilson, QB, Alabama: 55/98, 666 yd, 4 TD, 3 INT

The Heisman is about a lot more than stats, and Wilson’s are underwhelming and somewhat satanic, but he had the best “Heisman Moment” of the year thus far against Arkansas. He threw the game winning touchdown with 8 seconds left last weekend, on national TV. Previous Heisman winners include Eric Crouch, Jason White, and, now, Troy Smith so you know that being the most skilled player in the country is not a prerequisite for winning the award. JPW has everything; athletic ability, team success, and, or course, massive sex appeal. Sex appeal cannot be underestimated by Heisman Watches; it got Brady Quinn all the way to New York. You aren’t a real Heisman candidate until you make me question my sexuality, and JPW certainly has. I mean, has not. I mean, has. I'm so confused.

Weekend Betting Preview: NCAA Edition

This week we’re looking at the “Battle for the Bluegrass,” as Louisville and Kentucky meet to decide the winner of the Governor’s Cup. Louisville and Kentucky have one of the fiercest rivalries in college sports, most of the credit for that is due to the basketball teams, but these schools hate each other in general. This is going to seem like a very “square” pick, and I guess it is, but I don’t care Louisville is going to kick the shit out of Kentucky.

I’m not going to bother talking about the teams' defenses, neither is good, and if they were, it probably wouldn’t matter too much. This game comes down to the fact that Louisville has the extreme edge in talent, is equally motivated (even on the road), and Louisville is in a bounce back scenario.

Despite Kentucky’s emergence as an offensive power recently, Louisville’s talent is still miles beyond that of UK. I don’t care that Kentucky’s WR Keenan Burton was 1st team all SEC last year, if Mario Urrutia and Harry Douglas were playing for UK, they’d be starting. At quarterback, Andre’ Woodson has been awesome, 2nd team all SEC last year, but he just does not stack up to Brian Brohm, potential #1 NFL draft pick. The offensive lines might be the biggest difference, UK lost three of their starters from last year, 2nd team all SEC Rt Michael Aitcheson (a 2 year starter), C Matt McCutchan (3-yr starter), and G Trai Williams (2-yr starter). This isn’t a completely dire situation as UK had multiple O-line injuries last year and played a lot of people, but it’s definitely not a strength. On the other hand, Louisville returns seven of their top 10 lineman and adds two JUCO transfers, it’s their strongest group in a long time.

I really believe that the Middle Tennessee game was a look ahead for Louisville. Even though Kentucky isn’t the most difficult opposition they face this year, it is their most hated. Louisville hasn’t shown anything, especially on defense. They have not used any of their blitz packages, etc. They are not as bad as they looked against MTSU, looking at the final score does not tell the whole story as MTSU only scored 7 of their 42 points in the second half. That shows that this team has talent, but needs to be motivated, and motivated they are.

If the rivalry wasn’t enough to get the defense excited for the game, Kentucky has provided some bulletin, or should I say billboard, material for the Cardinals (good one). The University of Kentucky has posted 17 UK Football billboards around the Louisville campus. That’s a lot, and the Louisville players have definitely noticed. Defensive tackle, Earl Heyman, had this to say: "Doesn't bother me, they can stick their signs wherever they want to stick them." I think he means "up their ass,"he went on about the rivalry, "The rivalry means a great deal to me personally and as a player, I'm from Louisville, and I've been around it my whole life. I've been all over Kentucky, and it's all everybody talks about." This defense will be ready to play, I think both defenses will be, but UL’s talent will prove too much.

I thought I should mention the home field advantage thing too, it hasn’t mattered in this series. Over the last eight years, Louisville has won by an average of 15 pts at home and won by an average of 19 pts at Kentucky. I’m not arguing that it’s better that Louisville is playing away, just that it doesn’t matter in this rivalry. So, in summary, Louisville is going to be looking to destroy someone coming off that embarrassingly close win versus MTSU, their first chance happens to be against their most hated rival, they have more talent, Kentucky has given them extra motivation, and the line is under a touchdown … count me in.

South Florida Is Getting Screwed

Today, we’re focusing on the USA Today/Coaches Poll. I could start by asking questions like, why is Hawaii in the top 25 when they barely beat Louisiana Tech? Or, how does Georgia stay in the top 25 after losing at home, while other teams have been more impressive in the first two weeks? Or, would teams really rather play Alabama or Iowa than Boise State? These questions point to the ridiculousness of the polls, in week 2 they should be fluid, but “coaches” are unwilling to make any majors changes to their ballots, which leads to my major question.

Why the hell is Auburn ranked ahead of South Florida? What do the Bulls have to do to get respect? Last year they beat West Virginia in Morgantown, they’ve got NINE returning starters on offense, they’ve got two NFL-caliber cornerbacks, and just beat Auburn at Auburn. If the school’s name was Miami and they went in and beat Auburn, they’d 100% be ranked this week. This is just another example of the NCAA screwing over small schools. Apparently they’re going to have to beat West Virginia in two weeks to get some respect; it’s just funny that beating a traditional SEC power won’t hold as much weight as beating a Big East school. Go Bulls.

Weekend Betting Preview: College Football Edition

Alright, last week didn’t work out so well, but the first week is a crapshoot. The second week is also pretty much a crapshoot, but I’m feeling pretty good about this play based on the results from last week as well as last year.

The game is Navy versus Rutgers on Friday night in New Jersey. These teams met last year when Rutgers shutout Navy, 34-0. Rutgers’ offense is even better than last year. They return seven starters from the team that averaged 30 ppg, including returning Heisman hopeful, Ray Rice. The line in front of Rice is also very experienced, they lost two starters, but gained Anthony Davis, the #7 ranked offensive lineman in the nation out of high school, Rutgers’ most highly touted recruit ever.

Last year, despite leading a high scoring offense, QB Mike Teel was a liability. There is no excuse for throwing 13 INTs to only 12 TDs when you have one of the best running backs in the country in your backfield. However, Teel is now a junior and should do a better job managing the game. You can’t take much from their game versus Buffalo, but Teel was awesome throwing for 328 yards and 2 TDs, most of which to (Heisman front runner) Tiquan Underwood. Though Navy’s defense is a little bit better than Buffalo’s, I expect Rutgers to carry the offensive momentum from that game with them into this contest with Navy.

Navy’s defense is absolutely awful. They return only 3 starters from a unit that gave up 20 ppg, that number isn’t bad, but is way worse when you realize that they were playing teams like Massachusetts, Temple, Tulsa, etc. Not to mention the fact that Rutgers scored 34 on them. They allowed Temple to score 19 pts last week, so, when you multiply that by how many times better Rutgers offense is than Temple … let me think … OK, Rutgers should score 200 pts.

In contrast to their defense, Navy’s offense returns seven starters, including four of their top five rushers, which is huge in an option offense. You may have stopped reading because Navy got shutout in this same spot last year, and you’d be justified, I was cautious about even playing before I looked deeper. I realized that Navy’s starting QB was injured on the second series of the game last year. 'Playing' in an option offense in high school, I know how important repetitions are for the offense’s success. The offense clearly had no rhythm the entire game, and it showed in the score. Navy only rushed for 113 yards in that game, over 200 yards less than their average of 350 rushing ypg. I was shocked to see they got shutout last year when I was looking into this game, but there is no way that will happen again, barring injury, the option attack is too difficult to stop. I actually think this veteran Navy offense has an outside chance of shocking everyone and winning this game SU, but I’m not gonna go crazy.

The Rutgers defense is actually pretty decent. Their strength is in their defensive line, which actually doesn’t concern me since the option offense forces linebackers and safeties to make stops. Most plays option off of a defensive lineman that is left free, so, they run the plays based on which choice that lineman makes … thus neutralizing them. Rutgers’ weakness is in their linebacking corps. They lost Devraun Thompson and Quintero Frierson, two of their top three tacklers, inexperience at linebacker will kill them against the option. Soooo, I’m taking (this is an awful number, you can get it at 48, but we use wagerline.com to keep the numbers consistent for the contest):
